Who this policy applies to
This policy covers the BROMINDER app and this website. Global Data Society BV is responsible for processing personal data. You can find our contact details below.
Your account and life map
When you sign in with Apple, we process your account identifier and the email address Apple provides. This may be a private relay address. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
We store the life lines, moments, dates, settings and notes you enter, including your date of birth if you provide it. We use this information to save your life map and sync it between your own devices. The legal basis is performance of our agreement with you.
The app does not read your contacts, photos or location. There are no advertising or analytics trackers. Information you enter in a note or sentence may contain personal data about you or others.
Adding a moment with OpenAI
When you type or dictate a sentence and ask the app to interpret it, the app sends the text to our server. Our server passes the text, the names and internal identifiers of your active life lines, and the current date and weekday to OpenAI. OpenAI uses this information to suggest a date, life line, recurrence and note. You review the proposal before adding it. Your Apple password, email address and complete existing life map are not included in this request.
BROMINDER uses the sentence only to answer your request and does not store the original input separately in its database. The moment and note you confirm become part of your life map.
OpenAI may retain input and responses for abuse monitoring for up to 30 days by default, or longer when required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent harm. Under the standard API policy, content is not used to train models unless the API customer opts in. See OpenAI’s official information on data processing.
You can always choose “Fill in by hand”. Manual entry does not send anything to OpenAI. Avoid sensitive information that is unnecessary for recording the moment.
Dictation and Apple
When you use the microphone, Apple’s speech recognition converts your voice to text. iOS asks separately for microphone and speech-recognition permission. Depending on the device and recognition method, Apple may process audio. BROMINDER does not send audio to OpenAI; the recognised text is only forwarded when you ask for it to be interpreted. You can also type or fill in the moment by hand.
Service providers and processing outside the EU
Your life map is stored locally on your device and in our Supabase database. Supabase supports storage, authentication and our server functions. Apple provides Sign in with Apple and, if you use it, speech recognition. OpenAI processes input to suggest a moment.
Service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Locations and safeguards depend on the service and the applicable agreements with the provider. This policy therefore does not promise exclusively European processing. Contact us with questions about the location and safeguards for your data.
We do not sell your personal data or use your life map for advertising. We limit access to what is necessary to provide and secure the service, offer support or comply with a legal obligation.
Website and support
The fonts on this website are served from the website itself; no font requests go to third parties. The website is set up for hosting on Vercel, which may process technical request data for delivery and security. The website itself does not place advertising or analytics cookies.
The support page lets you compose an email in your own email app. Filling in this form does not send information to our website or store it in a website database. We receive your message and email address only when you send the email yourself.
We use support messages to answer your question. The legal basis is performance of our service agreement or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We use technical security data based on our legitimate interest in a secure service.
Retention and deletion
We retain your account and life map while your account is active. You can remove your account and life map from the active database through Account › Your data › Delete my account.
Individually deleted moments and lines may remain as deleted records for device synchronisation until cleanup or account deletion. Copies may remain in technical backups until those backups are replaced or expire. Deleting data from the active database therefore does not immediately erase all backups.
We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to answer and resolve your question, handle a dispute or meet a legal obligation. Technical logs and backups are subject to the settings of the relevant providers. OpenAI retention is described separately above.
Security and reminders
We use account-specific access and take appropriate steps to protect data. You can also lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. Notification text is not sent separately to our servers. Depending on your iOS settings, a note may appear on your lock screen. You can change those settings yourself.
Your privacy rights
You can request access, a copy, correction or deletion of your personal data. Subject to the GDPR, you can also request restriction or portability and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it; this does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Send your request to s.vandenberg@globaldatasociety.com. We may verify your identity and normally respond within one month. For complex requests, that period may be extended as permitted by the GDPR; we will let you know.
You can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the competent authority in your country.
Changes
We update this policy and the date above when it changes. We will inform you appropriately about significant changes.
